Norfolk 2024

Monday

We have arrived! After a quick stop to eat our packed lunches the sun was shining as we arrived at our new home for the week! We took a tour of the site and settled into our bedrooms before heading out to enjoy the sunshine with our first activities of giant canoeing and giant stand-up paddle boarding. Team work and balance were definitely required! Dinner was a delicous choice of southern fried chicken or cottage pie followed by a fresh chocolate eclair. Evening activities took us rock climbing, bouldering and on the low ropes - a 10/10 from everyone! We can't wait for our first full day tomorrow.

Tuesday

Blue skies, canoes and oreo doughnuts! Today was our first full day of activities here in Norfolk and it got off to a fantastic start - breakfast! We were treated to a full cooked breakfast as well as choices of fruit, cereal, yoghurt and toast. The sun continued to shine as we headed out to our activities: canoeing, fencing, low ropes, survival skills, volleyball and bouldering were all on the schedule today. Lunch was filled with talk of the day and sharing with other groups what each other had been up too. Then... it was tuck shop time! Thanks to our wonderful PA the children have been provided with a tuck shop each day of our residential, it is a real highlight of the day and extra tuck is always awarded to the tidiest rooms!

As the day drew to a close we headed into another fantastic dinner with another well-recieved surprise of oreo doughnuts for dessert. Our final activity of the day was a campfire for the whole of Year 6 (you know how much we like to sing a song or two!) and our tidy bedrooms await us for a much needed rest tonight, ready for another full day of fun tomorrow!

Thursday

Birthdays, special visitors and film night! Our final full day in Norfolk and we were up bright and early for another delicious breakfast (how many hash browns are too many?) Activities for the day included volleyball, aeroball, caving, bouldering, rock climbing, giant canoe, paddle boarding, obstacle course and survival skills. Caving has definitely been a highlight for all with a surprise deep inside the cave for us to find! Giant conoe saw us working together to explore the lake and its islands, whilst the children built their own shelters during survival skills.

Jayden celebrated his birthday in true Norfolk style with double wet activities and we all got together to sing him a big happy birthday before he shared out his birthday cake and opened his cards from home. Free time has been spent playing football in the field outside our apartment block, colouring, drawing and lots of games of Uno!

There was a special visitor from home at dinner time - Mrs Waterfield made the trip to Norfolk to spend the evening with us and we enjoyed dinner before settling down for the evening to eat the last of our tuck (thanks again to the PA!) and watch a film. It has been a fantastic week, and the children's behaviour has been exemplary, a final few activities tomorrow morning and we will be back on the coach home! See you all soon!

Wednesday

Kayaks, caving and lemon drizzle cake! Another day in Norfolk began with a fantastic breakfast and then straight back to our rooms to get ready for the day ahead. Obstacle course, caving, bouldering, fencing, paddle boarding, survival skills and kayaking were all on the schedule today. The children's behaviour has been outstanding so far, with many of the instructors commenting on their teamwork, perseverance and determination. All of the staff have been extremely proud of them.

We all enjoyed another delicious dinner before getting our dancing shoes on and heading to the disco! After a fun-packed day we are definitely ready for a good rest tonight, final full day tomorrow!
